The background of Dragon Shard is a fairytale land of mountains, lakes, and ruins, all of which is superbly well drawn. It can land anywhere on the reels, and it replaces every base game symbol apart from the scatter to help you form winning combinations. During base gameplay, you may find that a stacked pile of question mark symbols lands on the reels. They can be green or gold, and they're Mystery Symbols. When the reels stop spinning, green mystery symbols will reveal a matching set of any of the base game symbols, including the wilds. The gold mystery symbols will reveal only high values or wilds, and therefore are much more useful. On top of that, any winning combination created using a symbol that comes from a gold mystery box can be paid right to left as well as left to right.
If you land three or more scatters, you’ll gain access to the Free Spins feature. No matter how many scatters you trigger the round with you'll get ten free spins, but the rewards get better the more scatter symbols are involved. For three scatters, you're guaranteed one full reel of matching mystery symbols on each spin. Four four, you'll get two mystery reels, and for all five you get three. As all of the symbols revealed by the mystery symbols will match, you don't need us to tell you how valuable and plentiful wins will become for having three reels full of them!
