Eggspendables is a bit of a break from the norm for Inspired Gaming, who are better known for their sports-focused slots and their Virtual Sports betting platform. They’re masters within that field, and in 2015 signed an exclusive image rights deal with Mike Tyson for the purpose of making gaming products featuring his likeness. If you’ve been around for long enough to remember the original PlayStation gaming console, you might remember a game called ‘Worms’ which placed a gang of cute worm soldiers into a war scenario. The existence of Eggspendables owes a lot to that game. If you swap the worms out for cute egg characters, you’re not far from the same format. You won’t find many online slot games as eggcentric as this one. Gameplay in Eggspendables happens on a large layout of five reels and four slots, which defaults into a full-screen display mode to give you a clearer picture of what’s going on. The symbols on the reels all relate to the military; the least valuable are soldiers’ berets in red, yellow and blue, and above them are grenades, explosives, tanks, helicopters, rocket launchers and the slot’s logo, which unusually isn’t a wild or a scatter. There are two bonus symbols to look out for in this game, both of which have a role to play in the complicated bonus features that Eggspendables offers; a mystery symbol and the sergeant of the egg soldier platoon. He can become a wild, but for that to happen, you first need him to trigger one of the slot's bonus features. They're going to take some explaining, so let's try to do eggsactly that. Eggspendables Slot Features
At face value, there are two bonus features in the Eggspendables. One of them is very easily explained and understood, and the other is anything but. We’ll take the easy one first; that’s the Mystery Symbol. On any spin, you may find large bomb-like symbols appearing on the reels, upon which they stack. When they explode, they’ll all become matching symbols and hopefully trigger some wins for you. Sometimes (and at random), the mystery symbols will freeze in place before they explode, and the reels will spin again. If more mystery symbols are found, they will also freeze, and you’ll get another free spin. That continues until there aren’t any more new mystery symbols to be found, and however many you have on screen will all explode and become the same matching symbol at the same time.
The more complicated bonus is the Lieutenant Bonus, although depending on how many of the bonus symbols you find, it may become the Sergeant Bonus or the General Bonus instead. To find out which round you’ll be playing, you must first collect enough of the sergeant bonus symbols to get things started. You need at least five of them for that, appearing adjacently from left to right. The symbols stack, so if you have four on the first reel and one on the second, they all count. If you land between five and nine of the symbols, you’ll play the most basic lieutenant bonus. You’re taken to a new screen where you get to spin a set of spoons. Each of the spoons contains a multiplier, but every spin you take poses the threat of cracking the egg sergeant figure to the right of the spoons. The multipliers are instantly awarded as a cash prize, and the feature ends when the egg cracks.
If you land the sergeant bonus, which required between ten and fourteen bonus symbols, you'll still play the round described above, but when it finishes you're taken to a second bonus game, which is six free spins during which the bonus symbol is now wild. Finding the bonus symbol awards you one extra free spin, and the symbol also explodes to become wild in not only its own position but also the positions immediately above, below, left and right of it. Anywhere between fifteen and twenty of the bonus symbols award you the General Bonus, which is fifteen free spins in which paratroopers drop onto the reels and become wild. The sergeant also remains wild, and still explodes as described above, so you can almost cover the playing area in wilds if you’re on a lucky streak. If the above sounds complicated, it is. This is one of the most complex bonus features we’ve come across in all the online slots we’ve played. Even if you don’t completely understand what’s happening though, it’s still fun and profitable to watch it all play out. Eggspendables may be too much for some players, but if you’re happy to feel a little in the dark on occasion, it’s an enjoyable experience.
